South Berkeley Community Church
Hunger Program - Thursdays at 12:00 noon

Begun 18 years ago the Social Action Board (SAB) of SBCC continues to serve an ample hot meal every Thursday of the year. Ranging from a high of 150 participants to a more normal number of 75, this Berkeley City funded program is run by members of the SAB, staff and volunteers. The program is affiliated with Alameda County Food Bank. This program was led from the beginning until recently by Mr. George McDaniel, now retired. Mr. Thomas Woody, Trustee, is currently the leader along with Tom Gayters, Trustee, and Marshon King, Financial Secretary. Rev. Bob Howell, Pastor, Rossmore Pilgrim Congregational Church in Walnut Creek, Associate Member and long time friend of SBCC is a regular weekly volunteer. (Photos by Tom Luce, 3/8/07)
